30 Second Marker

January, 2, 2022 by

The 30 second marker is a projection path line of the aircraft. The length of the line is dependent on the speed of the aircraft. Within 30 seconds, the aircraft will reach the end of this line.

One use for the marker is timing heading instructions. If the aircraft maintains their speed and you send a heading instruction, the aircraft will complete their turn where the end of line was when you sent the instruction.

Another use is to judge how much time you have until they reach the runway, on final. The line is 30 seconds long, so you can use that to guess how much time you have till they will reach the end of the line.
