Hi everyone,

My name is Bruce Perry, and I am an Infinite Flight Community Moderator. I have been a customer of Infinite Flight, off and on, since 2016; however, I joined the community on February 1st, 2020.

Additionally to the forum, I am an IFATC Supervisor, Trainer, and Tester. IFATC has made the Air Traffic Control aspect of Infinite Flight, my favorite.

Something that may come to a surprise to many, who may not know me as well, is that I do not have any background within the field of aviation. In real life, I am a 19 year old, sophomore at a university, studying to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance. My biggest goal is to one day become a Timpanist or Percussionist in a major symphony orchestra in the United States. I focus a lot on instruments such as the timpani and other orchestral percussion.

Ask me anything! Ask a question

Bruce Perry is an Infinite Flight Community Forum Moderator. He is also an IFATC Supervisor, Trainer and Tester.

Hey Bruce,
What did the day of becoming Moderator look like for you? Was it a surprise? Was it set up months advance? Can you say anything about that story of how it became a reality or about the day it happened?

I knew a bit in advance that it was happening, but when the day happened, it was amazing. The team is so welcoming and fun to be around. Outside of the 200+ pings that day, (not an exaggeration but was fun) it was really smooth. I’m not sure if I can say the process so I’ll leave it at that lol

My favorite woodwind instrument is the clarinet, when in the lower register. My favorite brass instrument is the French horn. It has a unique look and sound from the rest.

Hey Drummer ! First or all, I hope you’re doing well !

And my question for you is : What do you feel when you see one of your trainee passing his test ? How do you feel when you see him increase his skills through the training sessions ?

Thanks for all the work you do for IF and all the feedbacks you gave me about my control skills ! I really appreciate it ^^

It makes me really happy to see my trainees past. They put in the hard work, and seeing them happy with their accomplishments make my day.

Where do you want to go with music? Do you plan on joining some sort of band?

My big goal is to be in a major Symphony Orchestra in the US. That would be my dream job. I’d also like to teach percussion at an university.

Hi Drummer
What’s your favorite drum corp show?

My favorite show was “Out Of This World” played by Carolina Crown 2014. The percussion features were insane here.

Hello Drummer!

What’s the best airport to control at in Infinite Flight?

What ATC frequency is the best one to control at?

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite airport. A lot of them are great for different reasons.

My favorite frequency to control is Approach. It’s always keeps me busy but I don’t control crazy amount of traffic on there. Tower is where I have a lot of fun with heavy traffic.

Hi Bruce, hope you had a great day!
What’s your goal as a Moderator and do you have plans pursuing a career in ATC in the future?

My goal as a moderator is to hopefully increase my community engagement. A reason why I think some users fear mods is because they might only see us when we are closing something but if we have more friendly chats with everyone, the fear can decrease.

ATC as a career is a strong second option behind my music career. I find ATC very enjoyable and I’d love to control it in real life.

Hey drummer 🙂
2 questions:
what’s your least favorite obligation a moderator on the IFC has?
and where do you see yourself in 4 years?

Drummer

My least favorite part is when we would need to warn or suspend an account. Ask the other mods, I still ask for permission before I do any of that ?

In 4 years, I see myself finishing my Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance.

Hi, Bruce! Thanks for your time today. Two questions—what is your favorite time signature and what feature that has not yet been announced by Infinite Flight would you most like to see implemented?

Drummer

Reply to  Luca Caviness

My favorite time signature would have to be 12/8. I like it because it is a triple based time signature that embodies a 4/4 beat pattern.

Since my favorite part of Infinite Flight is controlling ATC, I’d like to see that continue to evolve, so that we all can get the full experience. It’s great now and it’s only going up from here.

Hi Bruce! I have a couple of questions. What is the hardest tenor lick you have ever played? Have you considered getting your private pilots license?

Drummer

I haven’t played many Marching Percussion after high school. The hardest luck I’ve probably done was Jig 2 at a pretty fast tempo. That was fun.

Honestly, I haven’t thought about getting a pilots license unfortunately.

Hello Bruce! Three questions. What finally made you want to join the forum since you hadn’t for 4 years after discovering the app? How’d you find the forum? Finally, how are you enjoying being a Moderator?

I ended up joining the community after wanting to learn more and be realistic. The reason I’ve been off and on was because I didn’t know what to do and I did the same flights over and over again.

I found the forum when I was looking through tutorials. Each tutorial would link me to a different topic on the forum. I joined after seeing that I could control on the expert server.

I absolutely love being a moderator. It’s so cool being able to help out more in the community. The team is also very enjoyable to be around.

Hey bruce! as you are now the newest Mod. i have something in my mind. How do you schedule your time between Real life schedule and Infinite flight (as a IFATC Tester,Trainer,Supervisor and IFC Mod) that is lots of roles and i was just wondering how? Cheers!

School comes first. No matter how much I spend time on the forum or in app, my first priority is earning my degree. Outside of school, my goal is to control at least once each day. I usually will do this after dinner, so that way I’m on a schedule with controlling.

Training sessions, tests, and moderating are what I can do during all the free time and breaks throughout the day. With all that though, I still make sure to have time each day to focus on myself and relax.
