Choosing your words wisely

“I took an extravagant amount of time, 3 or 4 seconds, to choose my words very carefully before I spoke. I wanted to sound confident, not agitated, because I knew courage could be contagious” – Chesley Sullenberger

That is a quote from Captain Sully the captain of US Airways Flight 1549, better known as the Miracle on the Hudson. He’s talking about his choice of words and is use of the word “impact” in his final cabin announcement to the passengers and crew before attempting to land in the Hudson.
