IFATC Training Sessions – Pilot Prep

November, 1, 2020 by ,

Training Sessions are a crucial aspect of Infinite Flight ATC. Everyone who participates, whether they’re a trainee, trainer, or helpful pilot, benefit from each one. There are two main categories when it comes to training sessions; Local (Tower, Ground, ATIS) and Radar (Approach, Center, etc). Local trainees are yet to be IFATC, while Radar trainees are IFATC looking to upgrade past TGS controlling.

Here are a few tips to best prepare for training sessions, to better yourself and the trainee.

Local Training Sessions

  1. Choose a small aircraft with good maneuverability (i.e. A318, B737)
  2. Check the airport’s charts; you should know the pattern altitude and transition altitude
  3. Show “Zulu Time (Real)” in your status bar
  4. When writing feedback, include Zulu time stamps

Radar Training Sessions

  1. Choose a small aircraft with good maneuverability (i.e. A318, B737)
  2. Go to ifatc.org/map and display the respective airport’s terrain map
  3. In-game, set Nav 1 to the expected ILS
  4. Show “Zulu Time (Real)” and “Altitude (AGL)” in your status bar
  5. When writing feedback, include Zulu time stamps
