My Journey to IFATC

April, 29, 2020 by

IFATC is a goal that many, maybe even most, within the Infinite Flight Community wish to accomplish. In this post, I’d like to give you an insight into how I went from that noob controlling Heathrow on the Training Server to, as of the 20th of April 2020 (as I am writing this) a ATC Specialist.

In January 2019, despite being part of the IFC for almost a year already, I bought my first Infinite Flight subscription. I was immediately fascinated with the Air Traffic Control aspect of the sim and wanted to pursue it as far as I could go. I stayed up to ridiculous hours controlling (a habit that remains to this day) and would find great joy in opening the Mega-Hubs of the Training Server; namely EGLL, KLAX and KSFO.

Then when I finally met the requirements, in September 2019 (I’d taken an extended break from IF half way through the year) I contacted a recruiter. After verifying I met the requirements to join, he directed me to the written test.

On the next post I’ll cover my experience with the written test.
