OR Tambo International Airport in Infinite Flight

We wanted an excuse to show you Infinite Flight’s work on bringing OR Tambo International Airport into Infinite Flight.

As you may or may not know, Infinite Flight have begun to break ground. They have said that their “first release will only have a handful of airports so we can ensure it works well before we start scaling to more”. FAOR has made the cut and it’s jaw-dropping!

FAOR is Africa’s busiest airport and it is one of 4 airports in the world that fly scheduled non-stop services to all 6 inhabited continents.

There are six terminals at the airport. It is organised into two main terminals, linked by a central atrium. International flights arrive and depart from Terminal A and domestic flights from Terminal B.

It’s longest runway or the two is 14505 x 197. The reason for the extra length of the runway is the thinner air, the airport sits at 5,500ft MSL.

Because of the thinner air, this airport was used as a test airport for the Concorde during the 1970s, to determine how the aircraft would perform while taking off and landing at higher elevations.
