Automatic terminal information service, or ATIS, is a continuous broadcast of recorded aeronautical information in busier terminal areas, i.e. airports and their immediate surroundings. It provides weather information, runway configurations and remarks. We have had ATIS for quite some time but now we also have D-ATIS.
D-ATIS is a text-based, digitally transmitted version of the ATIS audio broadcast. It can be found by following the following steps.
- Open the map
- Tap on the airport
- Show information
- Then you’ll find D-ATIS in the WX section
It can be found in the airport selection or on the map while flying or controlling. To refresh the fields you will need to open and close the airport’s information.
It’s a great alternative to tuning in and you can read it from across the world. There’s no limit as to how far you are from the airport. This will help greatly with planning.
